Here’s a cute chambray romper!
I’d wear chino shorts and a fun blouse tucked in with a belt!
May 2011
Eep. A week after my 18th birthday! I had a crush on the guy throughout the entire summer and finally had the courage to let him kiss me! And then we dated… and lived happily ever after… for approximately three months. Ha. (We’re still friends though!)
Ummmmm… Love!!!!
J. Crew dresses are my weakness!!! Light and comfortable are my only two requirements when I’m buying a dress specifically for summer. I like to just “throw them on.”
Vineyard Vines always has a few casual dresses… I’m loving this dress! And, lastly…. Target has great dresses when you just want something cheap and simple!
Decorating for dorms is fun! I would definitely check out sheets by Tommy Hilfiger. I have three sets and love them. If you get a solid sheet set, you may want to consider bringing it to your local embroidery place and getting them monogrammed!
I would have fun with the bedding, but stick to a basic color scheme for the most part. Don’t worry about loading up on “accessories” for your room… more stuff=less room.
No online shopping :( Luckily for me, there’s a store in Tampa and Georgetown. It’s definitely a place you should check to see if a town you’re vacationing in has one!
Hi!!! Right now, with just the newsletter, no. But go ahead and send an email to preptalk.mail@gmail.com and I’ll send an “application.” Basically, you just write a mock column.
There is a website for Prep Talk in the works, and I’m going to need weekly contributors when the site is closer to launching!!!
So definitely shoot an email over to the Prep Talk address and your name will be kept in consideration for future plans :) xo
Love the ideas :)
I recently received this question from a reader named Paola…
I’m a sophomore in high school and I am going to attend a new school next year which is a lot bigger than my school now. I wanted to change up my style a little bit and go for the preppy look. Right now my style is somewhere between prep and hipster, mostly I just shop at places like Forever 21 and the Gap. But lately I’ve fallen in LOVE with the preppy look. I’ve been looking online a lot and J Crew, LL Bean and Anthropologie are my favorites so far, but I don’t know where to start!? So what do you think are the main essentials that I should have?
Thanks, Paola, for writing! I answered a similar question regarding preppy staples for the fall season, but I thought I’d give you some more ideas for the warm weather months. Even though you’re on a student’s budget, keep in mind here is that preppy style is classic - you’re investing in some items you’ll use for years and will never go out of style. I included practical purchases as well as a couple of lustworthy inspiration pieces.
1. Seersucker and Madras
clockwise from left: lands’ end canvas mini, juicy couture blazer, j crew top, tahari shirtdress, ae sandals, kjp headband, anthropologie sandals, old navy shorts, j crew shorts
These classic fabrics are the most cheerful way to dress for sunshine. Plus, patchwork madras and naturally wrinkled seersucker will travel well on weekend getaways —no need to iron to look polished.
If you’re on Blogger, you click “Design” on your dashboard and you can do all sorts of design features. If you’re on tumblr, some themes allow for backgrounds, find out when you click “Appearance” if it’s an option.
I got my background from the lady who designed my blog, but I think you can do a simple google search (i.e. “free blogger backgrounds”) and pick one out you like!
xo
Sometimes I’m not actually even wearing them- you know, just sitting at my desk working. But really, it’s hard to get a full body shot with just photobooth! hah
Yogani- it’s on Platt connected to Atelier!
